3 Tips for Moving in The Summer

In Canada, the peak season to move is between May and September. The pleasant summer weather makes it more favorable time of year to move, brighter days, and no snow, ice, or bitter winds to contend with, summer moves just make moving much easier.

If you’re planning move into your new home, follow these three tips for a stress-free transition.

  1. Secure All Packaging

The heat can potentially damage your belongings, particularly electronics should not be left in the sun for a long period of time. Ensure all boxes and containers are secured and labelled properly to decrease the likelihood that anything gets damaged in the move. A good tip would be to load these items into the moving truck immediately.

  2. Book Moving Truck in Advance

With Canada being a peak season for moving, companies are at its busiest. Try and book your reservations well in advance. You will be more organized on move-in day, and you have time to prepare for any changes leading up to the day.

If your move was impromptu and you are unable to secure a moving truck, try bringing smaller items first with your own vehicle and then the bulky / heavy duty stuff on another day.

  3. Stay Hydrated

Lifting heavy boxes in the heat is not a fun way to spend your day. Drink plenty of water and have damp cloths on standby to stay refreshed.
